Born in England in 1954, she immigrated to Canada at the
age of five. Her artistic inclinations and awareness of the natural world
emerged at an early age with an appreciation for the textures and movements in
the world around her. In 1972 after receiving a scholarship to the Banff School
of Fine Arts, Baynton's artistic career was launched and at the young age of 18
she chose to be a full time artist.
Under the guidance and encouragement of her grade school
teachers Baynton began working with oils and continues to work in this medium
today. Since 1984 she has completed and sold over 100 paintings which hang in
private and corporate collections in Canada and the U.S.
In 1988 Maurade was chosen as the feature artist in a
national program which helped support The Canadian Nature Federation and created the availability of selected
wildlife prints of her work to Canadians from coast to coast.
Maurade has contributed to several conservation
organizations such as The World Wildlife Fund and the Alberta Wilderness
Association to further the preservation of wild habitat and endangered species.
Her generosity and commitment to the community is also evident
in the limited edition print program, titled, " The Children of
the Festival ". Proceeds
of this series of prints help to
support Festival Place, a cultural center, located in her home town , Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.
