Whitey at
Day’s End by Rachelle Siegrist
"Whitey was my parent’s
pet chicken and I loved spending time with her when visiting them. She
would follow me around as I looked for bugs by turning over rocks and
dead logs, and scratching the dirt with a stick. When I found bugs for
her to eat, I would make clucking noises and she would come running over
to me and would gobble them down! We were good buddies and made quite a
team".
"I saw this beautiful
bull Elk during one of our visits to Yellowstone National Park. It was
later in the day and quite cold, when I noticed him standing alone,
creating a very peaceful scene. I found the play of the smooth surface
of the water and the soft grass against the rocks in the background very
interesting as well".
"This swan resides,
along with a few others, on a beautiful, peaceful pond set in the middle
of Cave Hill Cemetery, located in Kentucky. It’s a lovely place to
visit, watching the swans glide gracefully across the water, reflecting
the many colors of surrounding trees, with a quaint bridge leading to
the cave in the hillside across the way".
"Being an admirer of
Flamingos, I found this trio quite intriguing with their gorgeous pink
coloring being lit by the sun, giving a most wonderful glowing
appearance. They formed a perfect composition as they interacted with
each other, making it a moment it time to capture and paint".
"This painting
was inspired by a photo taken during my first trip to Southern
California. The statue stood amidst a beautiful sun-filled garden in
the yard adjacent to where we were staying. As an avid gardener,
this beautiful scene beckoned for me to capture it in miniature"
