Toast Of The Rhine
Although most of Germany’s vineyards owe their existence to the Rhine
River, the area is not so well known for its wildlife. The solemnity of
the rhino may remind you of a stuffy sommelier but the blush in his
cheek betrays this wine aficionado’s essential modesty. toast of the
Rhine… will make a delightful addition to your wine cellar, kitchen or
office.

The Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul
are known worldwide for their good works and
unfortunately, for this would-be anonymous bar
patron, they’re also instantly recognizable. The
cornette, or starched headdress, was an iconic
part of the Daughters of Charity habit until the
mid-1960s. Several years later, Sally Field’s
cornette-inspired antics as The Flying Nun
ensured the habit’s enduring place in pop culture
history.
Will Bullas’ bar scenes comprise
some of his most legendary images. From
Crabernet to
the hare club… to the
bar exam…, his colorful characters and punny
titles make a cool and offbeat scene out of any
basement bar, restaurant or kitchen wall. Bring home
this new release today and make your home the
hippest place in town, bar
none!

“Wine is so very
popular now and to say the least, chic. Not being very “chick” myself, I
seldom fit into the normal box. This is how I feel about food and wine
pairings: if the food you love to eat looks good with a certain wine, red or
white, it doesn’t matter, it’s a perfect match,” says Bullas. “Besides, crab
season was at its peak and all we had in the house was this very good
cabernet. So you couple the two and end up with Crabernet.”

"Have you ever
walked in on a perfectly 'innocent' card game?" asks artist Will Bullas.
"It's like catching deer in the headlights! Or "hare" in the headlights, as
the case may be. Today it's just a friendly game between a pair of jacks—or
jack rabbits in this instance. Oh, and, the carrot juice helps make it a
"healthy" game, too."

Let’s toast to The Year of the Martini…, which
comes hot on the heels of many The Year of ... paintings I have created. The
Chinese astrological calendar has 12 great animals, one for each month and I
painted all of them. The visual beauty of Chinese calligraphy has always
intrigued me and adds a ‘mystique’ to the painting. Only those familiar with
Chinese calligraphy know this symbol is for ‘happiness,’ which usually
accompanies a martini or two. I thought that the martini deserved some
notoriety after a friend mixed his special recipe for me.”

"the hare club… is
my usual play on words, but this time I’ve added many martinis,” says
Bullas.“These ‘hares’ seem to be in the middle of a nervous celebration or
perhaps out-foxing a local hunter. At any rate, I cannot be held responsible
for their behavior. I may join them — any excuse for a martini!

"When I first heard
this term and discovered it was somehow connected to the honorable
profession of "attorney at law", it conjured up this most serious group of
judges and lawyers at their favorite watering hole. Pencils down...glasses
up! Let the exam begin."

Ever go out to eat
and say: "What's the house wine?"? Bullas says this potential pun "sort of
tickled me privately for a long time" until one night he heard it one last
time and "The picture developed inside my head on the way home and when I
arrived at my studio I immediately sat down to paint."

Show a rolled up newspaper to these fellas and
they'll eat it. They won't sit up and beg unless you plead and if they fetch
your slippers, odds are your feet will still be in 'em. So heed our advice
and watch your step around the bad doggies...

How could the lioness of yesteryear have managed
the pride without her trusty cell phone—coordinating the stalking of a herd,
checking in on the cubs or tracking down the Jungle King at his favorite
