Biography of
Kristen Federchuk
Strong. Gentle. Elegant. That is the theme of my work. Strong vibrant colors and in a
gentle composition with elegant detail.
I am a self-taught artist. From as early as I can remember, I loved art and horses. I could
always be found with a pencil or paintbrush in my hand, drawing on walls and anything
else I could find. Over the years, I would practice drawing by studying the works of artists
I admired. I have always been passionate about the environment and the outdoors and
laid down my pencils and sketchbooks to obtain a BSc. in Environmental & Conservation
Science from the University of Alberta.
While still passionate about the outdoors, I wanted to see what I was capable of in art and
became a professional artist. It is truly something I was created to do, and it fills me with
joy and excitement to watch each painting unfold. Not wanting to be limited in my work, I
paint what I find beautiful or inspiring, preferring to be free to explore and paint the beauty
around me. Painting makes my soul sing, and I am happiest when I am at my easel!
Artist’s Statement:
“I am most drawn to images that reflect a gentle, quiet elegance. In landscape painting it
is the depth and beauty of a scene that attracts me. In my more recent works, I love the
life of the animal and creatively combining that with the dynamic nature of metallics. For
me painting is not just about art, it is about Glorying God through my work and being a
blessing to others with the talent He gave me.”
