Artwork Description
“Winter Bundle” is a love affair with light and the play of warm and cools. When I photographed this lynx I absolutely loved the play of light that just catches a little of the cat on the chin and warms up the white collar tuffs. The setting in the reference shot on the other hand really had no punch to it at all. In gathering reference for a wolf in the snow piece I actually photographed my dog Tuk playing and hiding from his best friend Jax behind this small fir tree. Once I say the shot it instantly reminded me of the light in the lynx photo from about ten years before and the painting was born.
