Elsa Bluethner was born in Quebec, Canada in 1960. From a very young age she exhibited natural artistic abilities and was introduced to oil painting at age 11. Elsa’s passion for creativity led her into a twenty-year career in fashion design, illustration, and costuming. In 2002 she traded scissors for paintbrushes, and set off on a new journey of self-expression by recreating her impressions of the places and people that enrich her life.Mostly self-taught, she continues to improve her skills by painting on a daily basis. Her more recent works focus mainly on the figure and the nature of women in environments and situations less often depicted in painting. She aims to capture the essence of the character through the motion and emotional expression of her subjects.
Elsa has had much success in developing relationships with her collectors through private exhibitions and commissions
