Artwork Description
I saw these Royal Spoonbills in Australia at the tail end of February (their Spring). It was the “birds and the bees” time and the males crowns of feathers were tinged lemon yellow to match the chest patch in the same colour. When a female came and the male liked her, his crown stood up and spread out much like a peacocks tail. When no gals were around, the crown folded down into a “mullet”. Very elegant birds.
