2 Drawer 501
Artwork Description
This heirloom jewelry box is made with skilled attention to detail and choice of materials so that people will want to experience and explore the tactile smooth finish. The colour combination used in this design gives it a unique presence in any room.
The top of this box is made from Brazilian Bocote that has been resawed to create the unique book match pattern that shows the beautiful grain of the wood giving it the mirror image. The sides of the box are made of Eastern Birds Eye Maple a very desirable wood for high end furniture and other exclusive items. The dark wood between the body and the lid is Wenge which is also used for the splines and handles. Wenge, is a very dense hardwood from central Africa. Its natural black and brown grain pattern is one of my favourite woods for accents and contrast. The base is made from Black Walnut sourced from the Pacific Northwest. I have given it a soft gentle profile to run the fingers along. The 95 degree rail hinges provide a smooth opening that makes this heirloom something that will last for the next generation.
The design is made to provide lots of space for different types of objects. There are 2 bottom drawers and 2 removable trays that give access to a lower section that is divided into 4 spaces. The dividers are all removable if so desired.
