Artwork Description

When winter hangs heavy in the far north, snowy owls often make their way south in search
of readily available food. The open fields in our area are attractive hunting grounds, and these
beautiful birds are often seen perched in trees, fence-posts, and hydro poles. From this vantage
point they are quick to detect mice and voles in particular, taking wing with a singular purpose in
mind. In ‘Drift’, a female, identified by it’s conspicuous dark markings, floats effortlessly over a
wind-blown drift of snow, keeping her eyes steadfast on her next potential meal.
