“Like all little boys, Nathan loved to splash through puddles with his bare feet. Even while I painted this piece I knew I will title it ‘School Days’. What I didn’t know is that it illustrated the lyrics of the old song ‘ School days’… ‘ you were my bashful before beau…. I was your queen in calico’. I found this coincidence to be very amusing”
