Concealed high up in the canopy of mature coniferous woods, these little songbirds are usually only heard during summer months in northern regions. Despite their seemingly shy nature, they actually pack quite an attitude and are highly territorial. On many occasions, I have called them down to eye level, all uptight and in a huff and flashing that magnificent crown in protest to my invasion of their claimed kinglet kingdom.
