Born and raised in the Bronx, mass transit is a daily part of many New Yorkers’ lives. The often overlooked gritty weathered subways hold a quiet beauty that defines the city’s character. The elevated tracks-their riveted steel and aging paint-inspired this painting. In Under the Pelham 6, a solitary pigeon adds life to this composition, a microcosm of endless visual possibilities. This painting was juried into the 2026 “Birds in Art Show” at the Leigh Yawkey Woodsen Art Museum Show, a very prestigious additional provenance for “Under the Pelham 6”
