Some paintings invite us to pause. Others bring a welcome burst of energy into a room. Artist David Patterson’s work offers art lovers an opportunity to discover both, through vibrant colour, expressive texture, and an enduring connection to nature.
At Picture This! framing & gallery, we’re pleased to introduce collectors to an artist whose floral and landscape paintings bring a fresh perspective to familiar subjects. With abstract influences and a colourful approach, Patterson invites viewers to explore nature beyond its outlines.
Patterson’s creative background spans several disciplines. His studies include fine arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and graphic design at Burnaby College. Before devoting his time to fine art, he worked in corporate graphic design, special events, and set design. He is also a musician, with a creative practice that extends beyond the canvas.
Experimentation remains part of his painting practice. Patterson works with different textures, continuing to develop his style while maintaining a connection to nature and natural forces. His paintings have appeared in galleries and festivals, and his work belongs to private and corporate collections throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and beyond.
The selection featured at Picture This! reflects that variety. Works such as Open Meadows and Valley High are painted in oil, while Hidden Places and Lakeview use acrylic. Other pieces, including Garden of Plenty and Rise Above, incorporate mixed media. Together, these works offer several starting points for discovering his art.
When choosing a painting for your home, give yourself time to explore your response. Does a floral subject brighten your mood? Does a landscape bring back a memory of somewhere meaningful? Look closely at the surface, then step back to consider the whole composition. The painting you return to may reveal something about what you want to experience in your space each day.
We invite you to explore David Patterson’s artwork through Picture This! framing & gallery. Whether you’re beginning your collection or choosing a new piece for a favourite room, his work offers a colourful place to start.
